SAS takes on TKC and ASiS at Prime Minister’s Debate Cup finals

As the sun rises, students from Tunku Kurshiah College (TKC), Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah Putrajaya (SAS), and Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah (ASiS) were eagerly waiting to give it their all in the Pertandingan Akhir Bahas Piala Perdana Menteri (PPM) ke-47 2022, a long-awaited prestigious debate competition held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

PPM has been around since 1974.

The debate championships were split into two categories; English and Bahasa Melayu (BM). SAS had to fight on both fronts as their English and BM teams qualified for the finals. SAS team went against TKC for English, while their BM team fought against ASiS.

English category

The motion for the English debate was ‘this house believes that technology endangers creativity’. SAS formed the government bench while TKC were opposing.

BM category

The motion of the BM debate was ‘rakyat Malaysia semakin sedar tentang kesejahteraan minda’. The team from SAS were the government, going against ASiS, opposition.

Verdict

SAS took on TKC and ASiS and emerged the victor on both fronts. They even won best speaker awards for the two categories.

TKC and ASiS put up great fights as the audience were visibly electrified by the performance of the contenders at the grand finals.

The Best Speaker for the English category goes to Amin Nasiruddin while Iman Syahmi won the award for BM category.

Death match

70 boarding schools (Sekolah Berasrama Penuh – SBP) participated in this tournament.
